About the Item
A pair of Regency style giltwood and parcel-ebonized convex dolphin mirrors from the 21st century. Each mirror presents a distressed convex round mirror plate within an ebonized inner frame. The larger giltwood frame is shaped as two stylized entwined dolphins, their knotted tails forming the crest, with impressive carved anatomical details such as scales, fins and a rope-like backbone. Dolphins and knotted ropes are characteristic decorative marine motifs of the English Regency style, alluding to Lord Nelson’s maritime victories at the beginning of the 19th century. This pair of double dolphin giltwood and parcel-ebonized convex mirrors, with their original shape characteristic of the Regency style, would grace your home and accent any room.
