Very Fine Pair of French 19th Century Rococo Style Giltwood Carved Pier Mirrors
About the Item
A very fine and important pair of French 19th century Rococo Revival style giltwood carved pier mirrors. The elongated intricately carved frames with carvings of tropical flowers, scrolls, seashells and acanthus, flanked on each side by a pair of shelves. The center beveled mirror plates surmounted with side etched glazed mirrors plates with floral motifs, Paris, circa 1890

- Condition:Repaired: Some carving repairs and re-gilting. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. Truly stunning! Some of the 22 carat gold leaf is recent. Minor age losses to wood frame. The upper right etched mirror on one mirror has been replaced. The silver behind most of the etched mirrors is peeling and age spotting on plates.
