A very rare early 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality. The shaped mirror glass plate of rectangular form is set within a finely hand carved moulded and fluted giltwood frame surmounted with a shaped architectural pediment flanked with elegantly scrolling acanthus leaves, raised above deep frieze with a stunningly carved centred scallop shell and an arrangement of trailing foliate and scroll motif detail, supported on shaped platform base with ebonised detail and a further fabulous arrangement of pierced and scrolling acanthus leaves to each side.
