Italian Painted over Mantel Mirror, 19th Century

About the Item

This superb early 19th century Italian architectural overmantel oval mirror is green painted with partial gilt. The curved pediment top is centered by double scrolls resting on Faux marble Corinthian columns flanking an oval plate bordered by a fruit and ribbon giltwood trim. On the inside of the oval frame is a meticulous enamel in Mediterranean colors and motif. In the style of the Classical Roman form of architecture.
