Neoclassical Georgian English Oak Fire Mantel

About the Item

A deeply carved, late 18th / early 19th century English oak Georgian era fire mantel, circa 1800. Highly decorative, this antique fireplace is carved to the frieze tablet with the mask of Bacchus, the ancient Greco-Roman God of Wine and Festivity, with acanthus leaves to either side. Other decorative features of this surround include scrolling jambs and a dog leg opening lined with egg and dart carving and a reel and bead edge. Opening height: 103 cm (40.55 in) Opening width: 115 cm – 126 cm (45.27 - 49.60 in) Base width (outer foot block to outer foot block): 150 cm (59.05 in)
