Large Antique French White Painted Trumeau Boiserie Mirror, Circa 1870
Located in Dallas, TX
Trumeau boiserie mirrors, such as this painted white offering from France, were designed to be placed on a wall in between two windows. The motifs and color palettes of these mirrors would often match the surrounding paneling. Based on the size (seven+ feet tall and over four and a half feet wide), our mirror would have been hung in a large room such as a salon. The inclusion of a floral latticework with canted upper corners that are topped by volute leaves indicates this mirror is in the style of the Regence Period. Also of note is the large foliate medallion that surmounts the lattice, flanked by C-scrolls that seamlessly transition into floral margents; these are traits of the Rococo style that emerged during the reign of the Regent. The shaped glass pane is surrounded by a border of beading set inside thick, protruding molding adorned with foliage. Our white trumeau mirror...

19th Century French Louis Philippe Mirror in Antique White
Located in Casteren, NL
This beautiful antique French Louis Philippe mirror has an ornate crest on top and floral ornaments in both lower corners. The gadrooned frame has a pearl beading surrounding the outer edge. This mirror is made in the south of France circa 1850 and is an early Louis Philippe mirror. The crest is not made in one mold, but it is composed out of multiple ornaments. Also, the mixture used to cast the molds has a big part of ground cattlebone. Later mirrors, when the demand for such mirror was increased significantly, had crests cast in one mold and the cattle bone was replaced for chalk. This mirror frame has been cleaned from its original golden color. The off-white color is the color of the raw material. The frame has been colored with an off-white patina to smoothen the color. The whole mirror frame now has a pastel white finish with nice patina. The glass has been renewed circa 20...
