About the Item

Olaf Wetterberg (1745 Sweden 1803), Rococo mirrors, pair, circa 1760, giltwood with original plates. A peculiarity of Swedish mirrors, well into the 19th century, is that in all but the grandest contexts they are made in two parts. This was not due to any technical limitations but a desire to minimize the amount of tax paid on the glass.
