20th Century Treccia Murano Glass, Italian Table Mirror by Seguso Vetri D’arte

About the Item

A vintage Art Deco Italian design mirror made of hand blown Murano glass with polished brass stripped rings. The table mirror is in good condition, produced by Seguso Vetri D’Arte. Wear consistent with age and use, circa 1925-1940 Murano, Italy. The Seguso Familly is an Italian Murano glasswork, manufacturer founded by Antonio Filius Seguxi in 1397, in Venice, Italy. Until today, the Seguso Family is able to trace their uninterrupted lineage of glassmakers back over six centuries. In 1605, they were added to the Libro d’Oro of Murano. By 1792, the Seguso Family crest was imprinted on the osella coin of Venice. The Seguso Family is one of the most prestigious, historical and valued glass manufacturers in Venice.

Base: 3.5" diameter View all Seguso Vetri D’Arte originals in our collection. Archimede Seguso was an Italian glass manufacturer and a designer born in 1909, in Murano, Italy and passed away in 1999. At the age of 11, Seguso started training and working as a glassmaker at his father's glass company. Later on, circa in 1930, he took over the family business, named Seguso Vetri d'Arte. During this time he studied the 16th century styles, such as filigrana glass, colorless blown glass, genetic manipulation of glass canes to give the form of linear patterns and plume glass, delicate, fine feather-plume glass shapes. In 1946, he founded his own glass manufacturer company in Murano, Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso. Seguso was one of the 20th century's master Venetian glassmakers.
