About the Item
A magnificent French mid 19th century Louis XV st. exuberantly carved gilt wood console and mirror. The console is raised on four cabriole legs joined by an scrolled X stretcher centered by a seashell amidst berried foliate. The very impressive frieze is adorned with swaging garlands foliate and cabochons. All below the molded edge white Carrara marble top. The gilt wood mirror is also adorned with carvings of scrolled acanthus leaves and foliate at each side and corner. The swaging garland and magnificent sea shells and foliate is repeated at the wonderful top crown. All original gilt and mirror plate.
