About the Item
An impressive and very pretty Louis XV-style trumeau mirror crafted from gilded wood and stucco in the Rococo style, and featuring in its upper section a reproduction painting of a romantic scene with two lovers in a stylised woodland setting. The painting is artistically mounted within an ornately decorated cartouche, edged with rocailles and flowers, and these motifs are echoed on either side of the artwork and at the arching crest of the mirror below. The mirror plate is bevelled, and is bordered on its top and sides with a simple, smooth and moulded frame. Full of character, this golden mirror would look fabulous in a stand-alone position on a wall, or set above a fireplace mantle. In good antique condition with minor historic knocks, marks and other age-related imperfections. Date: around 1890.
