Large French Trumeau Overmantle Mirror with Genre Scene

About the Item

A fine large Trumeau over mantle mirror with a hand painted French genre scene with a woman and an arched bridge, with an applied gilt scrollwork surround, over a vertical mirror with carved gilt surround. The mirror is French in origin, dating to the the 18th/19th century, in very good condition, with some craquelure visible in the genre scene, minor paint and gilt losses, edge rubs, mirror surface rubs and craquelure, shrinkage cracks, and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 66.5 in H x 44 in W x 1.5 in D. Ref: 8
