19th Century French Louis XV Carved Giltwood Oval Mirror with Shell Cartouche
About the Item
This elegant antique gilt mirror was created in France, circa 1870. Oval in shape, the mirror features a decorative shell cartouche flanked with foliage decor, discrete engraved floral motifs around the frame and another intricate shell motif in high relief at the bottom; the frame is further embellished with bead decor all around. The mirror is dressed with the original beveled mercury glass and wood backing. The Louis XV style wall mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich gold leaf finish throughout the frame. A wonderful size for powder room or an entry! New wire in the back for easy installation.
