19th Century French Louis XV Carved Giltwood Wall Mirror with Shell Cartouche
About the Item
Decorate a master bathroom, entry or hallway with this elegant antique mirror. Crafted in France circa 1860, and horizontal in shape, the wall mirror is decorated with a hand carved pierced cartouche at the pediment featuring a center motif flanked with foliage decor in high relief on both sides. The thick scalloped frame is further embellished with floral and leaf decor throughout, including a large shell at the bottom; the frame is further decorated with beads all around. The large frame is dressed with the original mercury glass and parquet backing. The unusual shape Louis XV style wall decor is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns the original rich gold leaf finish. Versatile, this mirror could be placed over a buffet in a dining room, or a console in an entryway.
