Gilt 19th Century Wall Mirror with Stucco Works, Rounded Corners, AT ca. 1840

Elegant 18th century gilt wall mirror from the late baroque period around 1790 in Italy. The artfully handcarved, partly open worked frame shows a lovely gold leaf plated surface and is adorned by elaborately carved floral motives, covered by an amazing looking patina. The highlight builds the large, slightly forward tilted top carving. Red shimmering spots that shine through the slightly abrased surface are caused by the so-called "bolus", the substrate/ ground for gilding and confer this late baroque wall mirror an extravagant and luxurious appearance at the same time. In this listing you will find a gorgeous, large and rare Biedermeier Mirror with gilt wood frame and faceted mirror glass. It features a rectangular shape with rounded corners and floral decorative carvings. The mirror is faceted. Made in Austria cca. 1840s. The mirror is in fair antique condition with visible signs of time and use. It appears to be refurbished some years back. Some patina is present, as well as some small chips.
