About the Item
An elegant and most impressive Italian 18th century Louis XVI st. Giltwood, Ebonized Fruitwood, and Walnut mirror, from Lucca. This stunning mirror is raised atop a rectangular ebonized Fruitwood base with two acorn finials accented by Giltwood foliate designs. Above the rectangular base are the original mirror plates framed within a rectangular Walnut frame with a carved Giltwood 'Les Oves' inner edge and a Giltwood foliate band along the top edge. This wonderful mirror is flanked on either side by slender round columns with mottled edged Giltwood plinths and top capitals. The top crown contains a rectangular ebonized Fruitwood top cap similar to the base. Atop the ebonized Fruitwood top is a carved Coeur-de-Rai Giltwood band and two foliate decorated Giltwood and ebonized Fruitwood ornaments on each side.
