Italian 19th C Large-Sized Painted Wood Over-Mantel Mirror in Music-Themed Motif
About the Item
An Italian musical-themed carved and painted wood mirror from the 19th century. This antique mirror from Italy has been created in a trumeau style design with a decorated wooden plaque-style top over original glass mirror below. The upper plaque section of this rectangular-shaped frame, features a carved swagged garland atop a musical inspired center piece with carved recorder and tambourine surrounded with leaves. The glass center, slightly smaller and also rectangular in shape, is housed within a molded surround, with petite beaded trim lining the glass edges. The mirror center is flanked within a larger wood frame adorn with tall column accents, which have carved swags within their tops, and carved urn embellishments within their bottom interiors. The color is primarily a green/blue aqua with gold about the various trim and accents, and there is a lovely old patina throughout. This 19th century Italian mirror, with its soothing palette and melodic carvings, is just shy of 4 feet in width and just over 5 feet in height, and will make a fabulous over-mantel mirror.
