Italian Early 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Giltwood and Gouache Trumeau Mirror
About the Item
An exceptional Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. giltwood and gouache trumeau mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within a fine mottled beaded wraparound band and an elegant egg and dart border. At the base is a beautiful fitted gouache depicting a large tent amidst trees flanked by fluted columns with a beaded and mottled foliate band at the base. Above is an additional striking fitted gouache depicting wonderfully executed personages leaning on pedestals and playing musical instruments also framed within a delicate beaded and mottled band flanked by remarkable fluted columns all below a striking mirrored gadroon design extending along the top crown. All original gilt throughout.
