About the Item

Art Deco mirror, Paris, 1925, attributed to Maurice Dufrène. Wooden frame covered with red copper and floral decoration. Very good quality, mirror replaced. In perfect condition. Height: 62.5 cm Width: 32 cm Depth: 3 cm Weight: 4.5 kg Maurice Dufrène was a French cabinetmaker, interior designer, set designer, and writer, born in 1876 in Paris and died in 1955 in Nogent-sur-Marne. Maurice Dufrène co-founded the Société des artistes décoratifs in 1902. In 1920, he created the Maîtrise workshop at Galeries Lafayette. He advocated mass production and worked with all materials: fabric, glass, wood, silver, and ceramics. Through Henri Rapin, he met Camille Tharaud, for whom he created several porcelain bowls. He designed the main auditorium of the Parisian cinema Le Grand Rex. Vice-president of the Salon d'Automne and officer of the Legion of Honor, in July 1941, under the Vichy regime, he was appointed a member of the professional organizing committee for the graphic and plastic arts.
