Classic Superbikes from Around the World Coffee Table Book Hardcover 2003
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Classic Superbikes from Around the World Coffee Table Book Hardcover 2003. by Mac. McDiarmid. The cool thing about Mac McDiarmid’s book Classic Superbikes from Around the World. The book not only gives us a look at some rare specimens most will never see, it also includes some classic superbikes that we have probably seen here or there or may even have in the garage. For example, McDiarmid included the still-popular Yamaha RD350, Suzuki GT750, Bridgestone 350 GTR, Kawasaki Z1, Kawasaki 750 H2, Yamaha XS-1, Harley-Davidson Duo-Glide and Honda CB750 and Honda CB450 “Black Bomber.” Less common classics such as the Indian Chief, Velocette Venom Thruxton, Norton 650 SS, BSA 650 Spitfire, Munch Mammoth, Douglas Dragonfly, Sunbeam S7/S8, Ducati 750 SS, Ariel Square Four, and Royal Enfield...

American Impressionism Oversized Hardcover Book by William H. Gerdts

Good copy bound in cloth with an equally fine dust wrapper. 336 pages; Beginning with a brief prelude discussing the roots of Impressionism in America and its relationship to French Impressionism, Gerdts recounts the early adventures of American artists in Claude Monet's village of Giverny, evaluates Impressionism's progress from an avant-garde aesthetic to its triumph during the 1813 Chicago World Fair and its replacement by the radical styles of Cubism and Futurism. Jean-Gabriel Domergue's French Academician Sword
By Odette Domergue
Located in New Orleans, LA
This important and unique sword was presented to the famed French painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue to commemorate the painter's election to the illustrious Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1950. One of the highest honors bestowed on a French artist, the ceremonial induction into the French Academy has been accompanied by the presentation of a sword since the age of Napoléon. Rather than a weapon, the sword became part of the Academician's uniform, and, over time, its design came to represent the interests and aspirations of its recipient. This example was designed entirely by Domergue's wife Odette, a great sculptor in her own right, and thus it represents both a highly personal gift and an important art historical relic. The design of the sword is simply magnificent. Odette Domergue found her inspiration in antiquity, a theme that is also seen in the neoclassical sculptures that occupy the gardens of the couple's famous home, Villa Fiesole - also known as Villa Domergue - in Cannes. The impressive weapon boasts a solid gold handle that takes the form of a sinuous caryatid, who is nude save for a single swath of drapery. While the female figure recalls the sculpted supports prevalent in ancient Greek architecture, she also calls to mind the subjects for which Domergue was renowned - languorous, slightly risqué women with a seductive air. Other decorative elements such as fauna, cypresses, and grotesque heads enhance the whimsy and imagination of the incredible neoclassical design. Furthermore, the scabbard that contains the finely etched blade is also an impeccable work of art. Crafted of black Moroccan leather in imitation of the snake skin, it displays intricately engraved foliage patterns with a lion's head and Domergue's coat of arms. Though imagined by his wife, the sword was expertly chiseled by the celebrated goldsmith R. Delsinne and assembled by the atelier of the famed sculptor and medalist Raymond Delamarre...

Pair of Children, Polychromed Pine Wood, Spain, 18th Century and Later
Located in Madrid, ES
Couple of children. Polychrome pine wood, Century XVIII. Pair of polychrome pine wood carvings that represent two children in an attitude of playing a musical wind instrument, both seated, with their hands towards their faces, and slightly raising one leg to add some movement to a posture that, otherwise, it would be perhaps too static. Due to their postures and attitudes, they would be part of a large and quality altarpiece, judging by the size, the details, the hair, the proportions, etc., elements in which the musical angels were not something strange. Note that those present do not have wings, calling themselves in these cases "putti" and being, in the same way, figures of habitual presence in religious environments despite having emerged from Renaissance classicism and its sources from Antiquity. The proportions of the sizes, the anatomy, the symmetry, the certain plasticism of the hair, etc. are elements that speak of an influence of Neoclassicism in these sculptures. Likewise, a certain resemblance to works from the 18th century of the Castilian school can be appreciated." Size: 22 x 42 x 85 cms / c/peanas 37 x 37 x 180 cm. Weight is merely orientative. Bases and wooden instruments...
