French 18th Century Gold Leaf Barometer
About the Item
Made of hand-carved wood in 18th century France, this barometer is elegantly covered in a variety of carved designs, all coated in gold leaf. A handled Grecian vase sits atop the stem of the barometer, with a pair of carved tassels hanging down alongside the stem. A trio of allegorical figures, also Grecian, are carved into jasperware above the glass face.
