19th Century French Empire Mahogany Bed Nicely Appointed with a Canopy

About the Item

A fine Empire mahogany bed, also referred to as an alcove bed or daybed, with full corner front columns with ormolu capitals, metal casters, and nicely appointed with a sheer white canopy embroidered with lyre decoration and accented with clear edge prism drops. The bed includes a 72 inch x 48 inch mattress with a fresh satin wreath decorated cover and two matching satin-covered cylinder pillows. Includes two brass curtain tiebacks for the canopy. Probably French in origin, dating to the early 19th c, in very good overall condition with minor edge rubs, scratches, and light wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: Bed: 42.5 in H x 76 in W x 53.18 in D. Canopy: 108 in H (9 ft) x 96 in W (8 ft) as presented.
