Classic Mid-Century Modern Walnut Bed W Storage, Minimalist Frame

About the Item

This bed is designed and hand-crafted by yours truly in Long Beach, Ca. The bed pictured is built from walnut, but I can use other woods upon request. The design is my own, inspired by a Mid Century/Danish modern aesthetic. All joinery is mortise and tennon- super strong and will last forever! The bottom of the bed is 8 1/2 inches off the ground, and the top of the headboard is about 39 inches off the ground, and there's about 13 inches from the top of the slats to the bottom of the headboard. It has four drawers underneath that slide out to either side of the bed. Each drawer is approximately 6 inches tall, 28 inches wide, and 28 inches deep. My design approach on the drawers is to keep them recessed behind the edge of the bed, and to have them floating off the ground, so that visually the bed does not feel bulky like most storage beds do. The drawers are built from solid wood, so that there is continuity between the bed and the drawers, and if someone does look underneath they'll see the same beautiful wood as elsewhere. Also, I typically leave about 16" from the back of the bed to the back of the closest drawer so that the drawer will not run into a night stand. Most of the elements of the design can be modified for the needs of your room.
