Early 19th Century French Charles X Period Birdseye Maple Nightstand, Marble Top

About the Item

Acquired from the Chateau de Plancy l'Abbaye in the Aube, an area near the Champagne region of France, this early nineteenth century French Charles X period bird's eye maple nightstand or side table features a grey marble top and and inset borders of fine lines of rosewood inlay. The lower cabinet, detailed with bronze pulls, is fitted with a drawer and a single interior marble shelf. Finished on all four sides, this piece may be placed beside a chair in the middle of a room to be visible from all sides, circa 1820.
