French Model 1855 Army Officers Sword with Scabbard

About the Item

This is an original French Model 1855 Army Officer’s Sword, complete with its full-length steel scabbard. Used during the mid-to-late 19th century, this regulation sidearm was standard issue for officers of the French military and features the refined design typical of the Second Empire period. The sword features a straight, narrow steel blade with a central fuller, suited for both ceremonial and combat use. The ornate cast-brass hilt includes a single knuckle guard, floral-patterned guard plate, and a laurel-leaf pommel. The grip is wrapped in blackened leather with twisted brass wire, offering a firm hold and visual contrast.
