Howard, Lynchburg VA, 1996. 1st numbered (245/1000) Ed hardcover with Brodart covered dust jacket, signed by the authors. 174 pages. Part of The Virginia Regimental Histories Series. "The 1st Battalion Virginia Infantry (Irish) was the only regular unit raised in Virginia. The 39th Battalion Virginia Cavalry served as escorts, scouts, guides and couriers for General Robert E. Lee's headquarters and the other general officers of the Army of Northern Virginia. The 24th Battalion Virginia Partisan Rangers was formed under the law providing for units to be organized in areas under Federal control and from those men not subject to conscription."
