Louis XIV and Regence furniture and decoration by Seymour de Ricci, New York: William Helburn Inc., 1929. First English edition hardcover with no dust jacket as issued. A remarkable book on Louis XIV and Regence furniture and decorative arts that is profusely illustrated with black and white photography. It describes the influences of the French monarchy, starting with Louis XIII, with the building of vast palaces and assembling artist and craftsman working for the crown. Louis XIV and his ministers created a homogeneous style of architecture, sculpture, painting and the decorative arts. The book includes designs of panels and friezes, murals, architectural detailing, furniture and decorative accessories. Still a Classic. NPT Books, a division of N.P.
