Published by Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1971. 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. 141 pp. Profusely illustrated with duotone plates and figures. "Born in Florence in 1610, Della Bella became one of the most admired printmakers of the 17th c, an artist of unstinting productivity, superb style, and wide-ranging subject matter. This book, the first one in English to illustrate an account of his career with a comprehensive selection from his works. This book puts him on view as maker of landscapes, marines, city scenes, animal studies, mythological subjects, and fantasies. An outdoors man rather than a studio practitioner, Della Bella used his sketchbook and etching needle the way a magazine reporter today uses his camera." From DJ.
