The Ware Chair Makers by Sara Carlisle Watson. Signed by the Author. Bridgeton: Sara Carlisle Watson, 1986. Hardcover. 119 pp. A book on the collectable Ware chairs of Cumberland County New Jersey and its six generations of the chair making family. Ware chairs were made between 1800 and 1940 and are characterized by slat backs, woven-rush seats, uprights, and stretchers turned on a lathe. The patriarch, Maskell Ware (1766-1846), found a niche in the furniture market by turning out rocking chairs. A rare and highly sought after out of print book. NPT Books a division of N.P.
