About the Item

Mr. Giallo is opening his personal vault to sell a collection of his treasured antiques he's held on for so long. ABOUT ITEM. These are insanely gorgeous cufflinks. The pink in these tourmalines are standout in all the right ways. Feels like royalty. Please inquire for any questions. MORE ON VITO. Born and raised New York artist, Vito Giallo, turned one of the best antique dealers sold to the who’s who of New York City - think Elton John, Andre Leon Talley, Greta Garbo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Franz Kilne, Mark Rothko (to name a few) and of course a daily customer of his, Andy Warhol. Mr. Giallo worked as an illustrator and graphic artist at Wolgang Beck Studios in 1952, where he suggested to use Mr. Beck’s space to open The Loft Gallery. There was Andy Warhol’s first show, The Origamis, along with other commercial artists, Nathan Gluck, including Mr. Giallo. He was Warhol’s first apprentice and first to give Warhol a show in 1954. Vito’s passion for antiques and their stories lead him to leave commercial art and Warhol to later open a little shop on Madison Ave across the Carlyle Hotel that brought in every artist, actor, politician, doctor, writer in. A frequent buyer (we’re talking every two weeks) from Sotheby’s plus Giallo’s exquisite taste made him the go-to for the best antiques in the city! Mr. Giallo is 92yrs young and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. At 91, Giallo is still very active. He was recently featured in NYT, W, Elle, and debuted his highly anticipated jewelry collaboration all in April 2022 with BK Jeweler, Catbird, and is currently working on launching his memoir/book! With the success of these recent projects, Giallo is opening his personal vault, to sell a collection of his treasured antiques he's held on for so long.
