About the Item

A gilt bronze necklace with chain and a square plaque on the subject of "Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden" with apple tree in the center, designed and made by Line Vautrin in her early career circa 1938/39. This piece is likely to be cast from the original mold with its sharp and clear lines, when closely compared to the casting published on page 29 of the book Line Vautrin: Sculptor, Jeweler, Magician by Line Vautrin and Patrick Mauries; Thames and Hudson. The chain is also identical to the picture and original with the plaque. What is extraordinary is that there are still two enamel inserts remaining on this piece, survived all these decades. The plaque is 2.5 inches square. The chain is 16 inches long in circumference. Not signed. Reference: Line Vautrin: Sculptor, Jeweler, Magician by Line Vautrin and Patrick Mauries; Thames and Hudson. Page 29 (see last photo).
