Gangs of New York is a 2002 American epic period drama film directed by Martin Scorsese, set in the New York slums, and inspired by Herbert Asbury's non-fiction book, The Gangs of New York. The screenplay was by Jay Cocks, Steven Zaillian, and Kenneth Lonergan. This movie prop hat has the name D.Day Lewis inside the lining as well as a certificate of authenticity from Miramax Films. It also has tag label that reads "Native Top Hat 5". It's finished in maroon felt with a gray silk headband and stands 10" tall.
