Mid-18th Century French Louis XV Period Engraved Hunting Short Sword with Horn

About

This mid-18th century French Louis XV period hunting short sword features a 26 inch long tapered steel blade engraved with a crown and star on each side indicating that this piece once belonged to a noble. An engraved hunting scene with a wild boar and deer being chased by a pair of hunting hounds adorns one side of the blade. On the opposing side is the inscription in French "Pour un plaisir nulles douleurs ont les amants et les vasseurs" which translates to "For a pleasure, lovers and lords feel no pain" in English. The blade is affixed to a horn handle with bronze mounted hilt and pommel. An exceptional hunting sword, circa 1750.
