Late 18th Century French Louis XVI Period Walnut and Marble Hunt Buffet
About the Item
Found in Aix-en-Provence in southern France, this late eighteenth century Louis XVI period walnut hunt buffet features its original beveled marble top. Originally used in a hunting lodge where game was placed after the hunt, this buffet is detailed with fluting on the corners and between the doors. Its two doors open to allow access to the interior cavity fitted with a single shelf. The cabinet rests on classic tapered square legs. Includes two keys with functioning locks. c. 1780.
