HISTORY
Mrs. James Ward Thorne of Chicago loved dollhouses and miniatures as a child. In 1942 Mrs. Thorne gave 37 more Miniature Rooms to the Art Institute of Chicago. Those rooms offered views of American history between 1875 and 1940. The Art Institute of Chicago's Thorne Miniature...

Our Lady of Bethlehem, Paint on Glass, Wood, Etc, 18th Century
Located in Madrid, ES
Virgin of Bethlehem. Paint on glass, wood, etc, 18th century.
Also known as Our Lady of Bethlehem, glass painting shows a well-known iconography in Spanish female convents since the seventeenth century that derives, far away, from Byzantine art (Panagia Eleousa or Glykophilousa). Comparing it with the painting of the same theme made in the seventeenth century and found in the Corpus Christi Monastery of Madrid, you can see common details (rings, necklace, etc.). In this city, the Virgin of Bethlehem was very important, who was in the Church of San Juan de Dios...
