About the Item

Unique tiger oak chair from the Dutch Arts & Crafts era. Arts & Crafts children's chairs are a rare find and to have found an original Dutch one in the manner of Jac van den Bosch made it extra special. Apart from one replaced corner bracket below the seat (see image 9) this striking little chair is exactly as it was when it was handcrafted over a hundred years ago. It is as strong and stable as ever and it can still hold a small child, as it was meant to. Even the original, purple ribcord upholstery with the fabric lining is still in very good condition. The blackened inlay and the typical Dutch Arts & Crafts design of this chair are signature details of Jac van den Bosch. This is why we are quite certain that this rare chair is of his hand. The warm and rich patina of the tiger oak makes the blackened inlay stand out even more and it too makes this rare and stylish little chair an absolute joy to own and look at. This children's chair is a real collector's item, a once in a lifetime find and great value for money.
