About the Item
This is a model that will stop you in your tracks. It's just amazing and in working. At 40 inches long this makes a very impressive display. We did rewire the lights and motor and to our surprise everything worked perfectly. There is no history for this so we needed to guess its age. From the age of the electrical wires, bulb sockets and early rubber on the side pulley/wheels all say Early 20th Century. The model is heavy and well built with complex gearing. The 2 probs on the front and back can be angled for the sub to dive. There are 5 port holes that light up on their own switch. The running motor also has its own switch. Ike sub sits on its own custom made iron museum quality stand. Also included is a brass model of an early torpedo tube from the same era. I'm not sure if it connects to the sub model and may even be finished in a different scale but it does display well with it. I don't know if this model was ever ment to be placed in water but would not try.

We were told that this coil was originally from West Point but there is no paperwork to back that up. We also guessed at its age. But it looks to be over 100 years. We have owned many coils over the years but nothing of this Size or quality. The wood furniture surrounding the coil is beautiful showing turned wood ends. In almost ll cases these Induction coils...

Very Large Ophtalmotrope
Located in Peekskill, NY
What is an ophthalmotrope? An ophthalmotrope is an apparatus for demonstrating the movements of the eye and the action of the different muscles which produce them, consisting essentially of a model eyeball to which are attached strings and pulleys to duplicate the line force of the muscles.
We think this example is most likely French from the early 20th century. The base is marble with paw feet. It’s also quite large at well over 3 foot tall. This instrument is very complete. It also includes additional parts to set the mechanics up in a different way. In the pictures above the strings are attached to a keyboard. The alternative replaces the keyboard with string guide with a dozen hanging tubular weights. This is one of the largest and most decorative examples we have seen. I have only seen pictures of ophthalmotropes and never one this fine and complete. It’s as rare and impressive show piece.

Large Scale Early 20th Century Shipbuilders Model of Sant'Antonio Steamship
Located in Gloucestershire, GB
A Highly Interesting Large Scale Shipbuilder's Model of the Sant'Antonio Steamship, Early 20th Century.
This intricate model was almost certainly made as a shipbuilder's model for presentation to the original owner of the vessel. The name plate identifies her as the Sant'Antonio and details on the funnels reading OES presumably refer to the name of the shipping firm who owned her at this point in time. The vessel herself must have been enormous and this model, probably made to scale, is extremely large but it is also highly detailed. See for example the details of the rigging, the winches, the porthole-type cabin windows and the series of lifeboats. There are functioning doors and latches, moving propellors and the original paintwork, vividly rendered in blue, red and white.
This piece is a beautiful example of early twentieth century model making, possibly made in Italy judging...

Bronze Waterline Model of the Submarine HMS Finwhale
Located in London, GB
A bronze waterline model of the Royal Navy porpoise-class submarine HMS Finwhale (SO5).
HMS Finwhale (S05) was the fifth Porpoise-class submarine of the Royal Navy. She was launched on 21 July 1959 and first commissioned on 19 August 1960. During her first commission she went further under the ice than any other submarine at the time. She was recommissioned on 27 January 1964. In March 1965 on her second Arctic patrol she further eclipsed her first ice patrol, penetrating 95 miles into the ice.
The Porpoise class was an eight-boat class of diesel-electric submarines operated by the Royal Navy. This class was originally designated patrol submarines, then attack. They were the first conventional British submarines to be built after the end of World War II. Their design was, in many ways, influenced by the German World War...
