Antique 6 Bell Fortissimo Music Box by J Manger & Co, c. 1885

About the Item

An excellent-sounding Fortissimo 6 bell antique music box made by J. Manger & Co. of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1885. The fully serviced musical movement features 6 saucer bells arranged in three racks of two, each surmounted by colourful enamel flower finials. It also has a tune indicator and a double spring for extra-long running time. The music box plays 8 popular and operatic tunes as listed on the colourful original tunesheet, including the Wedding March and Old Folks at Home. It has a great, bright, uplifting sound and plays with great presence. The case is richly veneered and has very attractive floral inlay to the lid and front, both of which are set within walnut borders and looping boxwood stringing. Please note that video here has the sound automatically removed. If you would like to see the video with sound (which makes sense for a music box...) please message us and we can see you a link to view on Youtube.
