About the Item

The G2 is the second generation of the Avante Garde Clairtone Project G Console Stereo System originally conceived by Peter Munk, David Gilmour and Hugh Spencer. The futuristic design of the G2 was the brainchild of designer Al Faux and was brought to fruition in the mid-1960s giving the system a cleaner more compact appearance. The system implements the movable sound principle with the more compact 13″ Sound Globes which may be rotated a full 360 degrees to alter the aural soundscape of the room. The chassis is the Clairtone solid state T10 amplifier. The record player is the Garrard Lab 80 auto transcription turntable and the cabinet is bookmatched Brazilian rosewood. This example has been completely serviced mechanically and works as intended with only a few minor exceptions. It has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is cosmetically in extraordinary museum-grade condition. You will be hard-pressed to find a better-looking Project G2 system available anywhere on the planet. A bluetooth receiver can be added to the system upon buyer's request for a negligible cost. For the last 3 decades we have focused on sourcing and restoring Clairtone Project G1 and G2 systems and have subsequently become the number one resource in the US for acquiring a fully restored unit. We have placed Project Gs in institutions and high profile collections all over the world. Most recently we have partnered with the SFMOMA to assist them in obtaining an extraordinary first generation example for their current exhibition, The Art of Noise. The Clairtone Project G Systems are the most iconic and coveted examples of mid-century modern hi-fi design in the world. Rewired: grounded to frame. Replacements made: Pre-set radio and auto transcription function not operable. Refinished. New Stylus. Wear consistent with age and use. fully restored by an electronic engineer but like any vintage electronic device we make no guarantee of functionality. Like any piece of vintage audio the G2 might need occasional maintenance. We also have a Project G1 available in a separate listing.
