About the Item
Smaller size and great looking Gothic Revival bible stand.
This hand-crafted and beautifully patinated and hand engraved brass bible stand dates from circa 1920. What makes this bible stand extra special are the quatrefoil symbol in the center with inside that symbol the IHS 'monogram'. These Gothic design and engraved letters IHS refer to the first three letters of the name of Jesus in the ancient Greek alfabet. The four other quatrefoil symbols are in a more stylized fashion and they give this bible stand its extra open look and feel. This rare and attractive church relic has the most beautiful patina and it stands as strong and stable as the day it was hand-crafted. Apart from a few minor imperfections this stand could not be more original and it will look beautiful, no matter where this antique will be used or placed on display.

- Condition:Repaired: The base and top were connected via screwthread, but the screwthread was worn and now the base and top are glued together with a special metal-glue. Wear consistent with age and use. This rare antique bible stand is as strong and stable as the day it was hand-crafted and apart from a little dent in the back of the base (see image 8) it is in excellent condition.
