Stunning and one of a kind church lectern / stand for a bible, book or sheet music.
This Gothic Revival church floor stand from the earliest years of the 1900s is another perfect example of the quality and beauty of the handcrafted ecclesiastical items from that era. With the rubust, symmetrical and highly decorative tripod base, this rare antique not only stands strong and firm, it also is a real joy to look at. Especially the quatrefoil symbols and the Christian cross in the bookstand itself immediately tell you that this Medieval Style lectern is a Gothic Revival antique. Both in materials and in design, this unique stand truly is a rare sight to see. Add to that the quality of the hand-forged and thick wrought iron details and the patina and you will agree that this practical antique is ready to again be used in a church or monastery. Apart from one missing wrought iron rosette and some minor wear (consistent with age and use) this adjustable in height bible stand is as good as you could hope to find an antique of this age and rarity. We are proud to offer it to you (the 1stibs Community) in this good condition so that this majestic lectern soon will again be used where it was hand-crafted for in the first place. Besides adjustable in height, the bookstand itself can also be tilted (to a degree) via the original wingnut on the back (as shown in some of our images).
