Early 20th Century Italian Gilt Brass and Wooden Altar or Sculpture Stand
About the Item
Standing at 39 inches in height, this large brass and wooden altar piece was originally used in an Italian church to display a statue. The roof of the altar piece is held up by four Corinthian columns that rest on a wooden base. The sides of the base are detailed with a brass egg and dart pattern. The roof of the piece is made to look tiled and is decorated with Vitruvian scrolling, beading, and fleur de lys. This large scale piece is ready to display a sculpture or tall objet d’art. c. 1900.
