About the Item

Rare size, Gothic Revival, octagonal design chandelier with 9 glass shades. With early 1900s lighting as one of our specialities we can tell you that you will hardly ever come accross a Gothic chandelier that is as large and impressive as this specimen. This truly large (52 inches in diameter) chandelier was most likely made in France and this all hand-crafted Gothic light comes with all 9 glass shades in THE best condition possible. The octagonal bronze frame consists of a repeating, Gothic cathedral window-like pattern with a Gothic pillar on each of the eight corners. From each pillar grows a beautiful brass and glass flower that makes this extra large chandelier even more amazing. To us, the icing on the cake of this one of a kind antique chandelier is the bronze, Gothic crown-design pendant light in the center. Of this entire 9-light Gothic chandelier this crown-like pendant has the most of its original gilding left. The combination of the amazing bronze and brass patina and this natural wear of the gilding gives this unique antique an even more realistic Medieval look and feel. In our photos we used eight 40 watt bulbs and one 80 watt bulbs in the center, but you could actually double that wattage if you want to. Apart from some minor bendings, one replaced part on top of one of the eight pillars and a replacement brass cover (where the electrical wires come together) this Gothic chandelier is truly amazing and it will never fail to impress. You just don't find these fit-for-a-castle-size Gothic chandeliers and to have found it in this condition more than made our day. It could also make your day, because our fair price includes perfect packing (in a custom made crate) and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays. This largest Gothic chandelier too will arrive wired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in your castle, church, monastery or ballroom. Finally, thanks to the metal hook inside the height adjustable and large brass canopy, safely mounting this one of a kind Gothic chandelier tight to your ceiling (and over your junction box) should take no more than 10 minutes either. Maximum height x diameter: 52.8 x 52.3 inches. Height without the chain and canopy: 28 inches. Diameter of height adjustable brass canopy: 5.5 inches. Diameter of Gothic-crown-pendant in the center: 7.7 inches. Weight: circa 15 kilogram or 33 pounds lbs. Thanks to the antique, gilt bronze Gothic chain it also is easy to shorten the drop. Additions or alterations made to the original: The height adjustable antique brass canopy and the antique gilt bronze and pure Gothic chain are replacements that perfectly complement this unique Gothic antique. Replacements made: On top of the chandelier (where the chain starts going up) is a bundle of where the electrical wires come together. For cosmetic purposes we have covered that with black tape for these photos. However, when rewired there will be a brass cover there. Wear consistent with age and use. Will arrive wired for safe & immediate usage in the country it will go to and so you will always be able to use your regular, local light bulbs. Please also read our item description.
