Large & Stunning Antique Fine Bronze Gothic Revival 12 Light Chandelier Pendant
About the Item
Handcrafted and truly beautiful Gothic chandelier for candles.
In antiques it often is the case that the older a piece is, the better the quality and the details. This pre 1900s, rare and highly decorative Gothic style chandelier is no exception to that. This fine Gothic specimen is as elaborate as one could hope and this marvelous bronze chandelier from the 1800s even comes with the original and equally rich, gilt bronze canopy. The chimeras, the gargoyles, the earth angels and the multiple leaf patterns are just some of the Gothic symbols that give deeper meaning to this work of religious art. Makers in this day and age are no longer prepared to first carve or sculpt all the individual and highly detailed elements of such a figural chandelier before having to cast them all in bronze. Never mind the polishing, the gilding, the hand-drilling of screwthreads and putting all the individual pieces together. It would nowadays make this meaningful and ornate work of lighting art way too expensive. The original and equally impressive, long chain and canopy are in excellent condition as well and together they make this majestic and practical to use chandelier an absolute joy to own and look at. It is made for twelve candles and in original condition, but we could also make the six cylindrical candle holders electrical for you and we will do so at no extra expense. This wonderful antique chandelier will look great both in your home or in a church or monastery.
