About the Item

Rare 18th-Century Bronze Buddha Statue – Shan Kingdom, Burma A rare and finely cast bronze statue of the Buddha, depicted in the Mara Vijaya (Calling the Earth to Witness) posture — a powerful gesture symbolizing the Buddha’s triumph over illusion and worldly temptation. This piece dates to the 18th century and originates from the Shan Kingdom in Burma (Myanmar). The surface shows natural oxidation and subtle traces of original gilding, lending it an exceptional sense of age and authenticity. The statue remains untouched and unrestored, making it a superb example of Shan period Buddhist art. From a private Japanese collection, this serene and historically rich piece would elevate any serious collection of Southeast Asian religious art. • Origin: Shan Kingdom, Burma • Period: 18th century • Material: Bronze with natural patination and traces of gilt • Dimensions: H.17.5 cm (6.9 in), W.12 cm (4.7 in), D.8.5 cm (3.3 in) • Weight: 844 g (1.9 lb) • Condition: Very good antique condition; no repairs, natural surface wear and oxidation consistent with age ⸻ Shipping & Customs International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
