A fine Vintage Italian Ebonized Wood & Gilt Metal Crucifix/Cross, made in Italy during the 1950s. This crucifix is of substantial size, measuring 15 inches in height and 7.5 inches in width. The ebonized wood provides a rich dark backdrop, enhancing the visual impact of the finely cast gilt metal figure of Jesus.
The crucifix features a draped gilt INRI, representing the Latin inscription "Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum" (Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews) above the well cast and modeled figure of the crucified Jesus.
