About the Item

A larger than the normal plaster cast phrenology head, with its original painted finish and paper labels. The original makers label is partially missing leaving it a bit of a mystery, we believe the maker to be L.N Fowler who once operated at Ludgate Circus London. But we think the cast was originally owned by James De Ville. It was common practise for casts and mounts to be sold to others within the trade and with De Ville died 1846. And it's documented that Fowler did collect copies from the collection of the Edinburgh Phrenological Society and James De Ville in London. Age related wear to the original painted surface, and losses to the paper labels. Circa 1860 in age 25cm in height 12cm in width 14cm in depth

Vintage Italian Plaster of Paris Sculpt Head Bust Sculpture with Black Wood Base
Located in North Miami, FL
This wonderful restored Italian vintage aqualine plaster of Paris head bust sculpture is so reminiscent of what would be in a museum setting. She has beautiful surreal features with great detail to her very detailed back hair. She sits on a black wood base. Her face is so wonderfully sculpted to perfection of Italian classical beauty. From either the side or frontal view she is beautiful. Please note that we have just done some restorations and cleaning to the plaster of Paris and wood base as it had a crack in it. This is now reflected in the price alteration. It looks amazing now. This is from the 1960s. Sorry the old photos...
