A Rare 2 Day Marine Chronometer By George Hedger

About the Item

A fine example of a 2 day chronometer in the original 3 tier mahogany and brass bound case by William Hedger, the movement with the unusual layout is almost like an 8 day example made by Hedger himself who was a watch maker and worked at the address on the dial and case until 1840 so we can date this to around 1838 to 1840. The 3.5" silvered dial is numbered along with the plaque on the case, 4858 A letter from Beresford Hutchinson at THe National Maritime Museum also states that he has not seen another example with this design of movement. Fully cleaned and serviced
