Antique English Table Tennis Trophy Award Plaque c1939 Silver plate Shield.
Direct from England, just arrived in our most recent container, we have several of these one-of-a-kind English trophies that are brimming with provenance, and oh “the stories they could tell”!
This large oak plaque/trophy is highly engraved, with large, dimensional descriptive banner at the top, as follows: “B’HAM & DIST. TABLE TENNIS ASSOC. 1ST LEAGUE.
The center plaque has a beautiful dimensional scroll shaped shield with crossed tennis paddles in the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath and three of the annual award winners on copper and silver plate emblems.
There are 15 more ‘shields’, each with the engraved year and name, in a year range of 1923 to 1953. The lower portion has the annual winners engraved, from 1953-1989.
This is quite a piece of history, as it includes table tennis winners for over a 60 year period!!!!
Measurements: 23.5” ht. x 23.5” x 1.5”.
