Collectible Lightning Bolt surfboard by Paulo Rabello

About the Item

Collectible Lightning Bolt surfboard shaped by Paulo Rabello in São Paulo, Brazil. Featuring a beautiful yellow with red lightning bolt color scheme and glassed on thruster (tri-fin) setup. This collectible shortboard remains in all original condition. In 1972, Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley started the popular Lightning Bolt Surfboards label in Honolulu, Hawaii. They designed high performance shortboards, a new development in the surfing world at the time. Lopez created the iconic Lightning Bolt jag symbol which graced the boards of all the best surfers of the day. It was a representation of energy – the energy of powerful Hawaiian surf. Gerry Lopez was by far the most filmed surfer of his generation and his smooth surfing style was featured in nearly every major surf film made in the 1970's. The Lightning Bolt label continued to thrive in the 1980's. A long list of the world's best surfboard shapers at one point made boards for Lightning Bolt, no other brand came close to capturing the market like Lightning Bolt did in it's heyday.
