Collection of Part Made Simpson Long Nose Clubs, Carnoustie

About the Item

Robert Simpson Long Nose Golf Clubs. Four long nose Robert Simpson golf clubs in various stages of production. Made by a Simpson relative in the Simpson's Carnoustie workshop in 1990. The club heads are stamped with the shaft stamp (R. Simpson, Carnoustie, Hand Made) so that they could not be passed off at a later date as original clubs from the 1870's and 80's era. These clubs are expertly made by a craftsman in the traditional way with all the old tools. The beech wood heads have a splice or scare joint and are glued to hickory shafts. When a club of this type is finished the joint would then be further strengthened by whipping with a pitched thread. These would make a wonderful addition to any club collection giving an insight into the way the old clubs would have been produced back in the day. Also a great club to finish and to have the oportunity to play with a long nose golf club.
